Summer 2015 – The Indy area has some of the best strawberry farms for berry picking. This is a fun activity to do with your children, there are a ton of options for picking your own bucket of berries in Indiana. The places listed below are about one hour from downtown Indianapolis. Picking season generally begins in late May and ends in June. Get ready to add this fun family activity to your calendar.
As with all activities and events on Indy with Kids, we recommend that you call ahead to confirm that there are self picking times available. Strawberry picking season generally is about three weeks in length. We also recommend that you bring cash to pay for your berries, some places are not equipped to take credit card.
Spencer Farm (7177 East 161st Street, Noblesville)
When in season: Strawberries, blackberries, rhubarb, asparagus, blueberries, pumpkins & other fresh produce.
U-pick will begin at the end of May or first part of June.
Open daily during strawberry season.
2015 Strawberry prices $1.99 per pound for u-pick
Waterman’s Family Farm (7010 E. Raymond St., Indianapolis)
When in season: Strawberries, sugar snap peas, beets, sweet corn, peppers, tomatoes, pumpkins
Call ahead to confirm the availability and to be sure that they weren’t “picked out”.
U-pick will begin at the end of May or first part of June.
Open daily during strawberry season 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Waterman’s Family Farm (1100 N Ind. 37, Greenwood)
No picking at the Greenwood location this year.
Fields of Joy, formerly Pastor’s Produce (3840 W 38th St, Anderson)
When in season: Strawberries, rhubarb & asparagus
U-pick will begin the first week of June.
2015 Prices: U-Pick strawberries are $1.75/lb with a volume discount of $1.50/lb when you or your party pick 30 or more pounds. Pre-picked strawberries are available for $4/quart.

Zink Berry Farm in Morgantown (5878 S. Skinner Road) offers you pick raspberries, currants, blueberries and blackberries. Call for info.
Bell’s Strawberry Farm in Hagerstown (16447 State Road 38) offers real Hoosier hospitality! They encourage you to bring a picnic basket for lunch and have a play area for your kids to use. Parking is located close to the berry fields. The Bells have containers for the berries you pick and are willing to share any knowledge they have regarding storing, eating and sharing your berries. Distelrath Farms has Upick organic strawberries by appointment only. Please visit the site and email for more information.
