Frozen Treat Spots for Hot Indianapolis Days

ice cream at incredible pizzaCalifornia is pretty humid so I’m no stranger to summers of sweat and just trying to find that cool spot under your pillow. The difference is that I didn’t grow up with air conditioning. I don’t think I knew anyone that had air conditioning in their home until I was much older. My dad had a window unit in his home office and that room was like Mecca on a hot summer day. Generally though, we sought coolness through ice pops, Slurpees or ice cream — temperature control from the inside out.

The Indianapolis area has no shortage of fantastic frozen treat locations that offer yummy, refreshingly cool delicacies. yumz2BRICS (Broad Ripple Ice Cream Station) is a popular place to relax.

Kona Ice is a food truck with SNOW CONES! Not only that but they have a SELF SERVE FLAVOR STATION! The only problem? You’ll have to hunt this cool factory down to see where they are parked for the day.

Mrs. Curl in Greenwood is a summer staple for southsiders. I recommend finding parking off site and walking over. This place is JAMMING in the summer!

Indulge in Fortville is such a cute shop and their Marshmallow Cokes rival their ice cream. Go for the ice cream but don’t skip the coke!

Look online for coupons for self serve ice cream and yogurt locations. Set limits ahead of time and use smaller containers. To get an idea of what a up of dessert might cost, watch someone else checkout before you serve up.

Cultured Swirl in Fountain Square offers gourmet frozen yogurt with some unique toppings! Bacon anyone?

Red Line offers self serve frozen yogurt in a train themed shop.
